Gold Prospecting

"This past weekend I took a short prospecting trip with my family out to Gold Basin, AZ. Weather is very nice out there around this time of year. Cooling off from Summer and before Winter makes it too cold. This was my first time out to Gold Basin and I was happy with the trip.
We went out to one of our GPAA claims. I would be lying if I said we didn't get a little lost while we were out there. There is a whole bunch of intersecting dirt roads out there, so If you go be prepared!

Its always interesting to notice the changes in soil when you are at a certain area. This entire claim was just covered in Quartz, Iron, and Magnetite. All minerals you would like to see around your gold prospecting area.

You should see the size of some of the quartz there just laying around the desert. Very big boulders, some very white almost like snow.
We brought my recirculating sluice and a bunch of water - found a good spot and started to dig. Test panning is important as we did not. We did find some gold there however very fine. I was able to recover maybe a half of a gram. Still a fun trip and nice to be out in the middle of nowhere!"
